NAAS, IRELAND, (July 17th, 2009) – Shorcontrol Safety, a leading safety company is proud to announce that it has been accredited by the Road Safety Authority to act as the Training Centre for drivers who wish to acquire or maintain their Driver Certificate of Professional Competence qualification.

The first course will take place on 29th August 2009 and will cover ‘Module 4 – Professional Driver’.

Driver CPC Training in Ireland
Driver CPC was introduced in Ireland as a legal requirement on the 10th September 2008 for all bus, coach and minibus drivers. The introduction date for all truck drivers will be the 10th September 2009.

New drivers will have to undergo a 4 hour theory test followed by 2 hours practical tests. All drivers will have to renew their CPC every 5 years following 35 hours of periodic training. This can be done through annual one day training.

The new legislation will affect all professional truck, bus and minibus drivers except certain types of vehicles such as private vehicles, emergency response and driving instructor vehicles that are exempt under the new laws
